Goodbye, Little Max

You may have read a couple of posts about our beloved dog, Max.  Sadly, Max got hit by a car today and passed away.  Our hearts are broken.

Max was only 17 pounds, but he was huge in personality.  Today has been a very hard day for Mike and me.  By 6:40 a.m., Max had taken his last breath.  He died in Mike’s comforting arms, which is exactly where he would want to be.

There will never be another Max, which leaves a big hole in our household, but we are so thankful we had him for the time we did.

Max was the first dog I fell in love with…we connected.  After he showed me who was boss in the early days, we got it figured out.  He took care of me, and I took care of him.  I am forever changed due to knowing and loving Max.

I actually had a couple of posts drafted about Max. I may share them over the next few days as a tribute to our best friend, Mighty Max the West Highland Terrier.

So long, fur baby.  Thank you for all the happiness you brought to us and for the love you shared with us.

  1. Kayla,
I am so sorry for your loss. Fur babies can really steal your heart and even change one’s life for the better sometimes. Prayers for comfort as you miss your dear Max.

  2. Very sorry for your loss, Kayla and Mike. Pets are truly family members and to lose one, especially too early, is heart-breaking. Peace.

  3. Kayla,
I am so sorry about your dear, sweet Max. It is the hardest thing to lose our best furry friend. It does hurt so much and if you are like me, you find yourself just looking for him at the most random times. The memories you have shared with Max will live forever and provide you the smiles eventually. I can promise you it does get easier, but never better when it comes to missing them.

    Love you! AOT,
    Laura
