Ahhh, the crisp autumn air, the bright sunny days, and the changing color of the trees make me want to hit the road for a Sunday afternoon drive.

A couple of weekends ago, on just such a lovely Sunday afternoon, we drove south on State Highway 154 to Gilmer, Texas.  The drive was amazing.  I know I have been that way before, but I guess I never noticed all the beautiful tree covered hills, lakes, and gorgeous homes.  It made a wonderful afternoon get-away.

We stopped in downtown Gilmer for lunch at a Mexican food restaurant named Las Fuentes.  The food was good, as was the cute downtown in which the restaurant is located.  The architecture was so interesting, that I got a Mike to drive around twice so I could check it all out.

Altogether we were out about three hours, but it was so fun and exillerating.  My mom always talked about “just going where her nose took her.”  I didn’t really understand that phrase when I was young, but I get it now.  On the next pretty weekend day, we plan to try it again.  Now that we have gone southeast, now maybe we will go northwest.

Wishing you all fun travels in Autumn!
