Every Christmas is big in Sulphur Springs, but this year promises to even be bigger. For the first time in Hopkins County history, the arts organizations have banded together to put on a musical, The Christmas Carol. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, December 2-4, 2016. The show will be held at the Auditorium at the Hopkins County Civic Center.
Bright Star League of Cultural Arts, Northeast Texas Chorale Society, Main Street Theatre, and the Sulphur Springs Symphony League are working to put this amazing production on for our community and visitors. It is hoped this will be an annual event that will draw crowds from far and near. All proceeds will be split among the arts organizations to make the arts in Sulphur Springs even stronger.
Local children and adults tried out, are practicing, and will be ready to entertain your wool socks off! In a town of about 15,000 and a county of about 35,000, we have some pretty talented folks.
Tickets range from $10 for children to $35 for VIP tickets, plus a service charge. They may be purchased at www.communitychristmascarol.com. If you are interested in sponsoring, let me know and I will get you in contact with the appropriate person.
Through the vision of one person, Pip Bickford, the hard work of a small committee, and the dedication of the entire cast and crew, mountains have been moved! Our entire community must applaud their efforts and dreams. We must support the performances and the performers. We need to attend. Put it on our billboards. Run an ad in the Playbill. Donate!
If we all get behind this mammoth project, the momentum will help it succeed this year and continue to grow for next year.
Folks, this can be BIG! This can serve as a draw for tourism, show off our wonderful community, and get more customers in our shops. Let’s not let this opportunity pass!
Update: Tickets also available locally at Alliance Bank, City National Bank and Guaranty Bank and Trust.
