Although I have been to some Christmas parties and to see A Christmas Carol recently, I still haven’t felt like I was in the Christmas spirit. Today, I spent some time decorating for Christmas, and I think I have successfully broken into the joy of the season.
What gets you in the Christmas spirit? Is it setting your Christmas table or using your Christmas china? Is it having fresh pine or spruce sprigs in the house? Or maybe burning candles that smell like pine, peppermint, or cinnamon?
Do you have Christmas jewelry you wear each year? Maybe it was inherited or gifts. Do you play Christmas music? Maybe make holiday candy? Is it putting up and decorating your Christmas trees(s)?
Maybe buying or wrapping presents brings out the holly jolly in you? Does drinking eggnog or hot wassail fill you with glad tidings? Or does spending time with family and friends at holiday gatherings fill you with good cheer?
Tell me what you do to get the spirit of the season. I want to hear from each and every one of you whether you have been naughty or nice! So readers from New Jersey, Houston, Florida and right here in East Texas, let me know what gets you in the Christmas mood.
What gets me in the Christmas spirit most of all? The MUSIC!!
I start listening 24/7 as soon as the radio stations start broadcasting. Plus my Christmas CDs and Amazon playlists. We also decorated the weekend of Thanksgiving, so there has been lots of time to enjoy the coziness of all the added decor. We plan a couple of Christmas events such as viewing the neighborhood lights and our church’s Christmas concert. For me, the key this year has been to do what all the self-help articles proclaim: Slow down and enjoy what makes you happy.
Merry Christmas Kayla!!
Merry a Christmas to you both! I am listening to traditional Christmas music now. Enjoy!
