As a fan of Jane Austen, I am excited to see the new movie Emma when it finally makes it to my local theater. In anticipation, I have been watching as much Jane Austen as I can find on Amazon Prime and Netflix. Some versions are better than others.
So far I have liked:
Love & Friendship (2016) on Amazon Prime
Sense and Sensibility (2008) on Amazon Prime
Mansfield Park (1999) on Netflix
Pride & Prejudice (2004) on Amazon Prime
Pride & Prejudice (1995) on Amazon Prime
I did not enjoy:
Mansfield Park (1983) on Amazon Prime
I have thoroughly enjoyed Sanditon, episodes of which aired for several Sunday nights on PBS. This is based on the unfinished novel Jane was writing at the time of her death. So the ending was the product of the imagination of Andrew Davies.
What are some of your favorite versions of a Jane Austen classic?
