Santa (my brother-in-law in this case) brought Mike a new meat thermometer. The Javelin Pro Duo, which can be found on Amazon.com.
Since we had our gift exchange on Christmas Eve, Mike was able to test out this new kitchen gadget while cooking the Christmas turkey. He is in love!
He first liked the size. The probe folds back into the handle, so it is more convenient to store than his fork style thermometer that he has used for years. When opened the thermometer is over 10 inches long, but when closed it is half that size.
The next feature he enjoyed was the backlit display of the temperature. Let’s face it…not all of us can see 20/20 any longer, so a large display is so helpful! The 2 inch display boasts an anti-fog feature, so you can easily read the temperature.
While using the thermometer, the best part was the INSTANT temperature rating. Don’t you hate waiting for the temperature gauge arm to stop moving? This device states that it will give you a read in 3 seconds. Mike’s experience showed it to be true.
My brother-in-law said that the thermometer can be easily recalibrate by inserting the probe in a glass of ice water. One more feature that make the Javelin Pro Duo so easy to use!
The price may seem steep compared to gauge meat thermometers, but for battery-powered meat thermometer, it is a good price. After all the money I have spent on meat thermometers that don’t work, I think this could be classified as a good buy at $50!
So, if Santa is still planning a delivery to your house, you may want to ask him to throw in a Javelin Pro Duo.
More information: You may be wondering what is the difference between the Javelin Pro and the Javelin Pro Duo. It is all in the display. The display on the Duo will flip so that you never have to read it upside down. This is good for any strange angles at which you need to use the thermometer and for left-handed cooks!
