This may not be the healthiest side you will eat this year, but it is so good! This is really on point. You can’t go out to eat without seeing this on the menu.
It is just as easy to make this at home as it is to order it when you are eating out.
To make sautéed brussels sprouts with bacon and onion, you will need:
1/2 lb. brussels sprouts, washed, cut end trimmed, and cut in half. If large, cut in quarters.
1 slice bacon
1/4 cut diced onion
Salt and pepper
1 Tablespoon butter
In a medium saucepan set on medium heat, cook the bacon, turning as needed. Once cooked, remove the bacon and let it drain on paper towels.
Leaving the rendered fat in the pan, add the brussels sprouts and onion. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Continue sautéing on medium heat, lower the temperature if the leaves begin to burn. Sauté until brussels sprouts are tender, stirring frequently. It will take about 8-10 minutes.
Once cooked, remove from heat and add butter. Stir to combine butter.
This will serve four diners, small portions. Double as needed.
