May God bless the families who lost soldiers in service to our country. Let us be thankful for the freedoms that their sacrifices have provided.
The federal government proclaimed the third Monday in May as Memorial Day as part of the National Holiday Act of 1971. However, much of the country began honoring fallen servicemen from the Civil War in 1868 on what was then known as Decoration Day.
Enjoy this beautiful day!
We remember and honor our fallen soldiers this Memorial Day. Yes, God bless the families who have lost loved ones while serving this Country. We must remember always that freedom is not free. Thanks for sharing the Decoration Day history. I hope you and your family are enjoying this beautiful day also.
You too, Sherry! Thanks for the comment!
