In recent years pluots have become readily available in many supermarkets. Have you tried them?
I had not until recently. On first look, it looked like a light colored, large plum. Cutting a pluot open, the pit looks like a plum pit. The flesh is the color of a plum. The taste is that of a sweet plum.
I am not sure why I did not snap a photo of the inside. I guess I couldn’t wait to eat them all!
So, what is a pluot? It is a cross between a plum and an apricot. The pluots I had were Sierra Honey variety, which is a proprietary variety of Kingsburg Orchard. They have several varieties that are available throughout most of the year.
Sierra Honey is tasty and something different. I am always looking for a new way to eat healthy foods. Pluots fit the bill!
If you haven’t given then a try then I recommend that you do!
