Cleanliness is Next to….

Confession time!  I actually love to clean.  Give me a free day, and I can find dirt to scrub!

While on vacation recently, we chose to stay at a vacation rental home.  When you go to check out, owners and managers have a list of things you need to do before you leave.  Our provided list was brief.  Strip beds and start a load of laundry. That was about it.

Being people who enjoy cleaning, we found ourselves doing a bit more.  My husband had a blast spraying the sand off the patio.  My thing was getting the shell bits out of the dryer lint cavity.  I think if there had of been a tool kit, my husband would have tightened the door handles.

Is it a compulsion, a diagnosis, or is it just the fact that it is so very satisfying?  There is something about making things cleaner and better than it was before that just makes my soul feel good.

A clean window, a shiny floor, a scratch free wooden chest all bring joy to me.  I even like to fluff the pillows as I walk by a vacant couch.

One of my favorite chores is cleaning dishes.  I am very particular about what is allowed in the dishwasher.  Even on vacation nice knives must be hand washed.  Yes, I am one of the weirdos who washes the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.

For those particular about the lawn and having the perfect striping on the lawn after mowing, you will understand when I tell you that I like to do that with the vacuum cleaner.

Now I am NOT saying that my home always clean.  I work, I have obligations, I sew and cook and watch movies, etc.  I can’t just clean all the time.  But when I do get that seldom free day, out come the rubber gloves, task specific cleaning products and my power tools of choice (stick vacuum cleaner with all the attachments, electric screwdriver, and appliances like dishwasher, clothes washer, etc.).

There is something so relaxing about a clean house.  It is like the to-do list no longer exists and all the world is made right.  Ahhhhh!

My favorite cleaning supplies are:

E-cloths/Scotch Brite Microfiber Cloths/Mr. Siga Ultra Fine Microfiber Cloths for Glass/S & T Microfiber Cleaning Cloths – these are my favorite cleaning cloths.  https://amzn.to/3ExQnDF, https://amzn.to/3yrJNuw,https://amzn.to/3RQ5bAz

Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Liquid  – cuts grease and is great for washing dusty vent covers.

Sprayway Glass Cleaner – you won’t need this if you but the microfiber cloths and microfiber cloths for glass, but if you have to have a glass cleaner…this is the one.  https://amzn.to/3Mk8UoI

Vinegar – not for use on natural stone, but great for most other cleaning jobs.

Baking soda – provide that extra little scrub, don’t use on surfaces which will scratch or dull.

Old rags – great for spills and messy jobs

Dyson VB Absolute Cordless Vacuum – I use this every single day for something.  https://amzn.to/3fLYIcq
