If you live in North East Texas, Western Arkansas or Southern Oklahoma, have I got a deal for you! Please join my town for the most amazing weekend, December 2-4, 2016. There literally is something for everyone.

Mark your calendar, buy your tickets, reserve your hotel, and get ready for a wonderful kick-off to the Christmas holiday. There are activities for all ages. You can eat, shop and enjoy the Christmas festivities.

Every Christmas is big in Sulphur Springs, but this year is even bigger. For the first time in Hopkins County history, the arts organizations have banded together to put on The Christmas Carol: A Musical. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon.

If you are from out-of-town, here is what I would recommend your weekend plans include:

Friday night, December 2

Check in at a local hotel.

Ride the free trolley to the square, known as Celebration Plaza, in downtown Sulphur Springs.

​Eat.
​Watch the Lions Club’s Christmas Parade.
​If you have young ones with you, there are ice slides and all sorts of vendors and festivities ​happening on Celebration Plaza.
​Have your photo made in front of the Christmas Castle or the Christmas tree.
​Grab dessert (cupcakes or popcorn or both!)
​Ride the free trolley back to the hotel.

Saturday, December 3
​Head to a local breakfast restaurant. There are a several around town, ​including two ​downtown.
​Shop at the outlet mall, Celebration Plaza, and all the unique shops around ​Sulphur Springs. We have antiques, gift shops, home decor, clothing, children’s ​wear, and so much more!
​Grab lunch at a cool sandwich shop or bistro.
​Have a relaxing cappuccino.
​Check out the famous glass bathrooms on the downtown square.
​Walk off lunch by window shopping around downtown and looking around the ​historic courthouse.
​Drive around town and view the beautifully restored post office turned city hall, ​historic homes, grand estates and gorgeous housing additions.

Enjoy the festivities at Heritage Park – see the light display, visit Santa, warm up with hot chocolate or hot cider. *
​Eat at one of the fabulous local restaurants. We have catfish, BBQ, Cajun, ​sportsbars, pizza, steakhouse, German, Mexican and Chinese food, and more. If ​you prefer chain restaurants, we have those too!
​Head to the Civic Center for the performance of The Christmas Carol, The ​Musical. *
​Go for a nightcap at a local wine bar.

Sunday, December 4
​Attend a local church of your choice. They would love to have you visit.
​Check out of the hotel.
​Have lunch.
​Tour the Veteran’s Memorial at Celebration Plaza. Look at the names, enjoy the ​radiance of the eternal flame and the serenity of the water wall. Breathe in the ​country air before heading back home.
​Make plans to come again next year!

You will leave town in the Christmas spirit, with your shopping completed, and a little Christmas magic in your heart.
